Direitos sexuais e reprodutivos das/os adolescentes: Discursos de Usuárias/os e Profissionais de Saúde

Abstract

The objective was to analyze the discourses of users/the health professionals on sexual and reproductive rights of/the adolescents and challenges and possible strategies to face them. A qualitative study was conducted through interviews with 12 adolescents and 12 professionals from the Nueva Esparta State of Venezuela. The sample was defined by the saturation method and for the interpretation of the data was used the Critical Discourse Analysis of Fairclough. For the analysis three themes were considered: The great paradox between guardianship and autonomy; contradictions and challenges of the health system; Building bridges in the design of strategies. Discussion: the gender norms reinforce the systemic inequalities that violate the sexual and reproductive rights of girls and of the gender minorities that escape the heteronormative pattern. The absence of strategies to address gender norms possibly denotes that counter-hegemonic discourses are still incipient. Conclusions: The Critical Discourse Analysis as a theory allows for the voice of minority groups (adolescents), identifying strategies for achieving sexual and reproductive rights. Through the discourse of professionals and adolescents it was possible to grasp the existing social gap and analyze them from a complementary rather than opposite perspective.
