Abstract

The lack of harmony between the spheres of family life and work can generate problems for the individual, the family and the company, making it essential to rethink the ways in which work is organized. Thus, the objective was to understand how double shifts impact aspects of the daily lives of women who work in private banks in Luanda, such as the problems of journey length, urban mobility and respect for legislation, which were then established as a priori categories. The imbalance related to double shifts can generate two types of conflict: work interference with family or family interference with work.  In this investigation, the aspect of work interference in family life was privileged. Based on a qualitative approach, basic research was carried out, as we only sought to discover and understand a phenomenon, a process or a perspective and world views of the people involved. Ten women who work in the private banking system in Luanda participated in the study. Using the collection technique, semi-structured interviews were carried out and lasted approximately 30 to 40 minutes. All interviews were recorded with the consent of the interviewees.  The data was processed through content analysis, with categories established a priori. The results showed that overtime without any reward is common. Dimensions such as the length of the working day, urban mobility and compliance with legislation are not always observed. It can be concluded that the double working day has a negative impact on aspects of the daily lives of women working in private banks in Luanda.
