QUALITATIVE META-SYNTHESIS SYSTEMATIC REVIEW: POSSIBILITIES AND CHALLENGES IN THE USE OF REVIEW STATEMENTS
##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.main##
Abstract
Review studies are an indispensable part of the researcher's work, making it possible to organize, clarify and summarize the set of relevant literature in an area, providing a broader view of a phenomenon rather than a single study. As such, the systematic review is characterized as a review of existing research using explicit, justifiable and rigorous methods. Considering the scarcity of reviews of this nature carried out in the field of Education, this article aims to describe the challenges and possibilities associated with adopting a protocol for systematic reviews when conducting qualitative meta-synthesis review studies. To this end, the methodological approach of a systematic review on research carried out in the field of Education, developed based on the PRISMA-P statement model, is presented and analyzed, comprising the following steps: (a) definition of the review question; (b) development of the research protocol, (c) construction of the theoretical framework; (d) development of the search strategy; (e) filtering and selection of studies; (f) description of the study quality assessment method; (g) coding and detailing data extraction and, finally, (h) synthesis and summarization of results. At the end, as results of the reflection on the development of the investigation, the benefits and challenges identified when using a research protocol for systematic reviews are listed. Considering it essential that studies of this nature are conducted rigorously and constantly appear in different fields of study, including Education, it is expected that the guidance and reflections presented will assist and encourage peers in the development of their own reviews.
