New Trends in Qualitative Research (NTQR) was founded in 2020 by the publisher Ludomedia Unipessoal, Lda. as a Book Series, publishing thematic volumes associated with international qualitative research events (volumes 1 to 14). At the end of 2022, NTQR transitioned into a journal while maintaining its primary objectives: the publication of original scientific texts in qualitative research, including state-of-the-art reviews, new research perspectives, solutions and/or applications for real-world problems, empirical studies and/or evaluation works, among others.

NTQR publishes articles in three languages – English, Portuguese, and Spanish – following a continuous publication model with free and open access.
